Mike has been working for Cyrenians since early 2017 managing the Outreach Service. The service is made up of a range of projects across different local authority areas in Scotland that look to take a relationship focussed approach to assisting people experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage (SMD). Projects include street outreach, inclusion health hospital Inreach and Housing First incorporating staff members with professional and lived experience of homelessness and the criminal justice system. All the projects are action learning projects in that part of the time is spent delivering support and the rest of the time is contributing to local and national networks around what works well and what barriers exist in supporting the SMD population.
Mike’s experience is derived from 18 years of working in areas such as assertive outreach, drop-in centres, hostels, night shelters, visiting support and statutory services in Edinburgh. Mike is particularly interested in inclusion and how we offer flexible and tailored services through a psychologically informed approach. Mike is part of the local Adult Protection Committee and sits on many fora around homelessness, rough sleeping and street begging. Mike is part of the Senior Management Team at Cyrenians, based in Edinburgh
